Pizza Making Competition

Key Steps for Planning a Pizza Making Competition:

Teams & Format

  • Teams: Decide if you will compete as teams or individuals
  • Each team/individual gets a set time (e.g., 45–60 minutes) to make their pizza
  • Option: Pre-made dough vs. making dough from scratch

Judging Criteria (Score out of 10 per category)

  • Taste – Flavor balance, seasoning, and overall deliciousness
  • Creativity – Unique toppings, presentation, or theme
  • Presentation – Visual appeal and plating
  • Execution – Properly cooked, good texture, and no burnt crusts

Ingredients & Equipment

  • Budget: Establish a budget for ingredients
  • Provide a base set of ingredients (dough, cheese, sauce, common toppings)
  • Allow additional ingredients (teams bring their own or provided within a budget)
  • Shared oven space – consider baking in rounds if needed

Time Limit

  • Total time: 45–60 minutes (including prep and cooking)
  • Optional: Extra time for teams making dough from scratch

Judging Panel

  • Appoint a panel (managers, coworkers, or external judges)
  • Consider a People’s Choice Award where everyone votes

Prizes & Recognition

  • Categories: Best Overall, Most Creative, Best Presentation, People’s Choice
  • Fun prizes (gift cards, pizza-related trophies, bragging rights)

Logistics & Safety

  • Ensure a clean workspace and proper hygiene
  • Manage oven availability and cooking times
  • Have a clear schedule for preparation, baking, and judging
